Located on Strickland Street, Michael Cartwright Art at Gallery 2 is a beautiful space to explore richly detailed oil paintings inspired by Western Australia’s landscapes. With over 30 years of experience, Michael’s work captures the essence of the Great Southern, from river scenes and towering karri trees to country cottages and ever changing seascapes. His inspiration also extends to North Western Australia, including the Kimberley, the golden outback and Karijini National Park. A prolific painter, Michael’s interest in art was inspired by his father, an art teacher and accomplished artist who mentored him early in his career. Working primarily in oils, he often uses a palette knife to create rich texture and depth across his pieces. Visitors will find an inviting and thoughtfully curated gallery space filled with unique artworks, from finely detailed landscapes to expressive statement pieces. It’s the kind of place where you might discover a painting that brings a little piece of Denmark home with you. Commissions welcomed. Open Monday - Saturday 10am - 2pm. Closed Sunday.
