From Kalamunda to Parliament, this 10-day, 250km journey along the Bibbulmun Track is a peaceful protest against the devastating expansion of bauxite mining into the endangered jarrah forests of southwest WA. These ancient ecosystems are home to critically endangered species, vital water catchments, and cultural sites that cannot be replaced. Alcoa and South32 plan to clear over 13,000 hectares of forest. But the truth is: higher-grade ore exists elsewhere β in areas already cleared. There is another way. Rickyβs walk is a call to action β not just to protect old growth, but to preserve climate resilience, biodiversity, and clean water for generations to come. Every step is a reminder that these forests matter.
